Frequently Asked Questions

and really good answers

What does SEO stand for? Expand

This is actually the most common question we get when meeting business owners. SEO stands for Search Engine Optimization. The practice of SEO is simply attempting to get a page to rank higher in a search engine’s SERPs (search engine results pages) like Google, with the ultimate goal being to increase organic (unpaid) traffic to that page.

Which is better, SEO or PPC? Expand

Both!!  Just kidding, the actual answer is neither is really better… because both are critical.   PPC (pay-per-click) and SEO really serve two different goals.  PPC is a quick and effective way to get targeted traffic to your website, today, even if your website is not optimized.  However, the best long term strategy is to do SEO, so that you can get unpaid traffic coming to your site for years to come.

What is on-page SEO? Expand

On-page SEO includes both content (customer facing) and the HTML source code of a page (image optimization, keyword optimization, Schema markup, and more that the search engines see), but not external links and other external signals.  On-Page is everything we do to your actual website, while Off-Page is things we do from other sites pointing to your website.

What is the best SEO strategy? Expand

Where to begin? Link building. Keyword research. Site audits. On-page SEO. Updating pages for relevancy. All are important. Our favorite… is link building!

What are SEO backlinks? Expand

Think about it this way: the internet is made up of two things—content, and links between content. When search engines first started indexing web pages, they needed a way to determine which pages were most relevant to certain queries—a system of ranking. The quality and number of backlinks pointing to a page immediately became a factor in determining that page’s rank. Backlinks represent a vote of confidence from one site to another. The more quality backlinks your page earns, the more valuable it is in the eyes of the search engine, and the more likely it is to achieve a high ranking.

What is link building? Expand

Link building is an SEO strategy by which we acquire links to boost your page’s quality score; which gets you better rankings, more traffic (web visitors) and therefore more customers.  Specifically, External link building is the process of acquiring links to your website from other websites.
